Pictured above is a prototype Jeep Tractor. We posted the picture on the CJ2a page forum and asked if anyone had additional information. Todd Paisley replied, “This is a Willys-Overland prototype. The Jeep Tractor was built under Engineering Release 5475 “Pilot Model of Jeep Tractor – Build One sample” that started on 4/19/1949 and the project closed on 12/7/1949.”
While the Jeep Tractor was a short-lived variant of the Farm Jeep, the Empire Tractor, built from Farm Jeep components, is better known. Other tractor manufacturers used hydraulic lifts designed initially for the Jeep. Of course, Jabez Love, the inventor of the first Jeep lift, was also a tractor manufacturer.
